FROM THIS LIST BEING SENT TO YOU.
linux-users is the mailing list for information concerning the linux
operating system.
There are three email addresses associated with this list:
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
will send mail to all the people on the linux-users list
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
will send mail to a real person who maintains the list.
[EMAIL PROTECTED]
will send mail to the automatic Mailserv processor.
The possible instructions are listed below.
HELP - Sends a help file.
This command takes no parameters.
SUBSCRIBE LINUX-USERS
UNSUBSCRIBE LINUX-USERS
This is the command you should use if you want to stop receiving mail
from this list.
END - Terminates MAILSERV processing; subsequent message contents are
ignored. This command is useful when signatures are
automatically appended to messages. Such signatures are likely
to cause errors if MAILSERV sees them.
PLEASE AVOID SENDING MAIL TO THESE LISTS WITH CONFIRM READING OR CONFIRM
RECEIPT OPTIONS ENABLED
The section below supplies some broad guidelines on how to use mailing
lists.
Hints for Using Mail Lists
---------------------------
Do not send any administrative mail (especially subscribe or unsubscribe
messages) to the actual mailing list. Use listname-request or
listname-owner.
When replying to a message, decide whether you want to reply to the
whole list, or just the original sender. Usually the whole list is the
default. Check the TO: line of your reply, and edit it manually if
required.
When you reply to a message, and include the previous message in your
reply, edit the message so that only the relevant parts of the previous
message are included.
