have you compiled out the ide-scsi emulation option in the kernel? An ide drive (hdc) should not need a module at all, I suspect it is looking for the ide-scsi thing.
Having just said that I just lsmoded my box with an aopen cd writer in it here at the office and it includes the following: Module Size Used by Not tainted ... ide-scsi 8288 0 scsi_mod 98616 1 [ide-scsi] ide-cd 27072 1 cdrom 28576 0 [ide-cd] I dunno what all these do...... its redhat -- Nick Rout <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
