I believe that Mahesh DaSilva was going to bring in all of his distro collection. From what he's said it appears that he collects distros like stamps :-)
He has volunteered to bring in copies. However, we can hopefully get an idea of what CDs we will need to burn by the registrations that we will get from the web-site. It seems that Mandrake and Redhat will probably be the Distros of choice. I know that whoever I help will probably get Redhat for no other reason than because that's the one I know the best and I therefore feel most comfortable helping people with what I know. I know that there are a lot of "distro zealots" here and probably even some on the installfest group so let's just give those people the distros we feel most comfortable with. However this means that if you decide to help we should probably make sure that your distro has enough copies burnt. This sounds like a nightmare to me but if someone wants to... be my guest :-) Zane On Sun, 09 Jun 2002 18:30, gjw49 wrote: > Nick Rout wrote: > > What distros are we going to promote? > > > > Are we going to have a selection of burned cdroms, or do it on demand > > while people wait? > > > > Are we going to use the official download cd's for a particular distro, > > or patch the cd's with the latest updates? for example redhat 7.3 > > already has a number of updates which are security based. > > > > We don't really want to send people away with known security holes do > > we.... > > > > Nick > > Security will be an issue if anyone wants a firewall or server box, but for > home machines I wouldn't worry too much.
