How much ram do you have in that machine? There is a howto on installing in low ram machines. Its called the 4MB Laptop howto, but don't let the name fool you, it is applicable to any small ram machine. It wirks, I've done it. Once you have the base install done, install apache and whatever else you need.
However I doubt that you will find the perfomance of apache & php and a database all that satisfactory with limited ram. Give it a go though, you may surprise us! http://www.linux.org/docs/ldp/howto/4mb-Laptops.html > Quoting [EMAIL PROTECTED] > > Ben from the man who took your details on the yellow peace of paper > 'Who did your install and that of your brother? > Zane did. > But this is for a real cruddy computer which did not have enough ram to install red >hat but i just wanted as a we server so i can fiddle around with PHp mySQL and >webpage stuff and also so i could make a mockup intranet thingy. > > I brought a compaq as well but we needed to resize the partition to make it >sliightly larger "i forgot to bring partion magic" but i don't want to put it onto >that. > > I want a distro that is basically the kernal, Apache, a database driver , the stuff >i have said before in and any other system requirements.
