Welcome

I will be putting together a printed NEWBIE Help File with most of the basics to
get you started.

I'm sorry it wasn't done for you at the Installfest, but i have been away for a
few months.

There will be a very small cost ($3-5) to cover copying, a folder and a floppy
with more help files, tips & tricks, FAQs, and more.

I can remember 'some' of the problems i had as a Newbie with Linux. I found
that FINDING THE INFO i needed was the hard part, doing it was usually much
easier than finding what i needed to know.

As i said i can remember 'some' of the problems i had but not all of them.
Therefor the best way for me is to ask you to make a very brief list of them
as they happen.

It doesn't matter how trivial your problem, a number of trivial problems
together = major frustration add it to the list.

You can use the program 'pico' or 'nano' at a terminal (the screen icon
on your panel), just Type pico ,it's like a Dos program to use.
It will save the file in your home/user directory.

If those programs are not there use your email editor, or GEdit (Gnome),
KEdit, KWord (KDE), and a lot more. In Linux you always have plenty of
choices :-)

You can copy and paste from those programs to your email editor by
highlighting with the left mouse button then click middle button to paste.
If you don't have a 3 button mouse click left and right buttons together
to paste.

It may be 2-3 weeks before i get it done so keep posting with your problems
meantime.

I hope all of you are on the internet with Linux ok, otherwise you will be
doing what i had to do back then, connect with M$ :-(

Have fun
   Trevor
