The LSB is useful for people porting software to Linux, but not so for
newbies. For example, the run level standards recommended by LSB 1.2 are
prefaced with this comment:

"However, it is not required that LSB-compliant run-time environments
use these run levels; the distribution-provided install_initd script may
map the run levels specified below to whatever distribution-specified
run levels are most appropriate. "

So having a system which is deemed to be LSB 1.2 compliant does not
guarantee that, for example, runlevel 3 is multi-user and runlevel 5 is
multi-user with a display manager.
