Very simple, happens to me too. Set the correct mouse protocol / type for your mouse hardware and the issue mysteriously disappears. There's no point in running the auto-config program ten zillion times if it's too stupid to detect your mouse type correctly. Use manual setup and tell it which type you have. If you don't know what to put there, use the "test mouse now" function. You'll know you've hit the correct type when your mouse starts working properly.
