A lecturer (who has since left university) developed the system over a 
number of years. About half of the lecturers at the computer science 
department now use the system. I have an old version, but Tim Wright (I 
know you're out there Tim), will have a more recent version with perhaps 
even a tutorial!

Essentially it's a source file converted to a LaTeX file converted to a 
pdf file, then read by acroread.
You can make presentation notes, like what I displayed - one line at a 
time. You can also produce lecture notes 1-up or 2-up for printing out. 
You can even have holes in the lecture notes for the students to fill in 
as your talk progresses (the holes are filled in as you get to that line 
in the display version).
