&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& Meeting was opened at 7:30PM by Zane Gilmore as evenings chairperson. 54 people present. Venue Sydenham Community association Hall. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& Carl Cerecke gave a well prepaired and informative talk on Unix/linux history, structure and command line. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& General business, supper and some more general business, the main points: CLUG member Christopher Sawtell is tutor for the linux course soon to start at Avonmore Tertiary Academy. ( http://www.avonmore.ac.nz/ ) ( [EMAIL PROTECTED] ) Jason Greenwood is running a CLUG poll to see how we can better cater for our members at meetings. A show of hands was asked for, for those interested in holding monthly instead of bi-monthly meetings. Overwhelming majority were in favour of monthly meetings. The idea of having our usual kind of meeting one month and a trouble shooting workshop the next month was suggested. There was a general consensus in favour of this idea. It was suggested booking eight or so computers prior to the workshop, so as not to have to many machines for the venue or trouble shooters. Mahesh DeSilva said he would like to do a talk at one of our future meetings on the various linux distributions he has down loaded and experimented with. Chris Sawtell (out of formal meeting) said he would like to give a talk/demo to the children of CLUG members on linux applications for 'kids' some time. There was a door prize this meeting. Craig Falconer kindly donated a copy of the Rute Manual. The winner was selected by ballot with all people attending the meeting having a ticket. Prize went to one of our newer members since the installfest. Thank you Craig for thinking of donating this prize! &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& CLUG thanks all those of whom bought along equipment and contributed to the meeting. &&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&&& Door takings: $159.90 money accumulated from bi-monthly meetings $144.25 from installfest (including donation) $304.15 Combined balance prior to this meeting +$82.05 collected from this meeting -$15.00 hall hire -$04.60 supper expenses ======= $366.60 Balance ================================================================ ================================================================ This is an unofficial record submitted to the CLUG mailing list by one individual.
