AUI = Attached Unit Interface

It is also known as 10Base-5

It uses a DB15 type connector.

A small interface box is used so it can connect to a multitude of network cable and
protocol types.

It was common on Token-ring, Thin-net (Coax), Thick-net (Thick Coax using a Vampire
Tap) in the 80's and early 90's (i.e. Before 10BASE-T) there are also 10BASE-T
adapters around for them.
