History: Chris Sawtell offered to talk on gentoo at the next meeting, but then couldn't make it. I have offered to do a talk on it instead, but want to make sure people really are interested.
Thoughts anyone? I think anyone reading the list will know basically what gentoo is about. I envisage a short spiel on: source distros generally, including brief overview of those available, advantages and disadvantages of source distros. description of the ebuild/emerge system of installing software. where to get the distro and where to get help. demo the installation of a (small) app (small as it has to download @56k and compile while everyone is watching) description of the install process. give away a few cd's. There won't be much wizz bang in terms of "Entertainment", and I'll try to keep it relatively short, as we need to run the 20 minute Linus interview too. Anyway I am seeking comments about whether this discussion has any appeal, and (if so) any other specific areas people want covered. -- Nick Rout <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
