Never fear, you got it right...

This is in effect what chkconfig does..  Always handy to know what the
background is, so that you can fix things when they are broke..

The one bit I'd point out is slightly (Being picky) is that it isn't a file
you're renaming, it's a symlink to /etc/init.d/smb
