I read about it on /. so it must be true :-> >From what I've heard, the i386 version is so that Apple can switch to intel chips if the relationship with motorola ever turns to custard. It wouldn't necessarily run on standard PCs since the CPU is only a small part of the overall architecture of a computer. /. posters also pointed out that it wouldn't make sense to release OSX for standard PCs since apple is a h/w maker, not a s/w maker, and they need to sell their colourful boxen.
