I am now running Mandrake8.2 so tried it again - KDE on tty7, then started X and icewm from tty2 on tty8 with a different user. Again I lost the mouse & keyboard on tty7. I logged out on tty8 and X appeared to shut down normally, then switched to tty7 but could not get the mouse or keyboard back. The mouse pointer was responding but not the buttons. I had to restart by pressing the reset button, ouch!! Any ideas please on how to solve this one???? TIA Barry
