Postscript is basically a stack based VM; very similar to Forth.
A minimalistic core interpreter could be probably coded by one person
in a reasonable amount of time. But to approach anything usable in
the real world you will need much more than that, even tho
I suspect one could write most of postscript in postscript itself.

The obfuscation of the current postscript files comes mostly from
the fact that is machine-generated code, meant to be easy to generate
and being read only by machines.
