If anyone cares, I ended up writing my own. It was pretty easy, and has a
web-based interface for the computer behind the counter (php,
postgresql).

I effectivly wrote a replacement for GDM where you just click on a start
button, it updates the database and starts KDE (or Gnome maybe), and then
when you exit it updates the database so the cost can be calculated. It
also removes the 'cafe' home directory and replaces it (using tar) to give
each user a clean login.

about 10 lines of shell and 1 line of C (plus glade doing some code
generation).
