I have installed one on RH7.3 If its the one form Dick Smith (XH1136) their web site appears to have the 2.2 kernel version driver. Also a pdf file for the wrong chip (had to peel the Intel sticker off the chip for that one)
Anyway I found a 2.4 kernel driver at http://developer.intel.com/design/modems/support/drivers_linux.htm The info on how to install is the readme file.
