driver. But any software modem (winmodem, linmodem) must have a modem driver
(if it exists for Linux). The serial port the modem resides on does need a
driver and it's supplied either as a Linux serial module or compiled into
the kernel. Any serial driver for a PCI Modem should install automatically
since they are detected by system software."
