Hi,
As you will see below we have five so far that have responded to our call
for participants in the next meeting . They are listed with the latest email
at the top.

As one or two have mentioned, they may not need to bring their problem
computers along if they sort out them out before the meeting.

And there is room still for anyone else of whom would like to bring their
linux problem machines along.

Remember there is a swap/buy/sell/give table at this meeting. So bring along
your unwanted gear. (and money)

Re: CLUG meeting next Thursday 5th December

 Hi,

On the subject of problems for your CLUG workshop...

I recently got back to NZ via Hong Kong where I picked up a nice little USB
hard drive. Anybody who's a whiz with USB devices I would sure appreciate
some help figuring out if this should work but doesn't/shouldn't work/is
working but I'm just to dumb to see it.

Looks to me a bit like the first option. My RH 7.2 install finds it,
registers it as a scsi drive, but then fails to read/write to it.

Cheers,

Rob Freeman

BTW I also picked up a WiFi card. Any leads for WiFi around Canterbury would
also be welcome.

Modem / PPP fix
Date: Fri, 29 Nov 2002 11:22:27 +1300
From: "Lance BLACKLER" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]

 Hi

Unless I solve it in the meantime - I would like some help with getting my
modem working on my Pentium Pro machine running Corel Linux (which I will
gradually update using the Debian apps once I get the modem operating).

I have got it to the stage that the modem will dial and connect with
Paradise, but the PPP times out, I think due to a problem with
authentification.

Once again I will be late to the meeting since it clashes with an earlier
meeting that I attend every Thursday. Should be there by 8:45

I also have some gear for the bring and buy (some free stuff to dispose of
also).

Thanks

Lance Blackler

At the next meeting can I please have some help with some basic things to do
with operating linux.
In particular extracting and installing programs from .tar files and using
terminal to run the install scripts.

Also at the last meeting I think I was speaking to Nick and he said he could
get me a copy of Mandrake 9, I would still be interested in that thank you

Regards,

Kevin
