ok, so it's 379 on my laptop. as you can see, I havent upgraded in a while,

Hmm.. ok, a few more than I thought. still, under 500M.

I imagine that you're forgetting that all of the software you have
installed, is not the size you need to download. packages *are* compressed,
you know... for good reason, as you can see.

Ok, so I have DSL now, but when I had a modem, yes, I'd just leave it going.
