At the office I got jetstart because it is cheaper than a modem, because telecom charge 3-4c per minute that a business line is in use, and thats before the ISP charges. I am a heavy email user and also rely on online databases for work. I was on the net maybe 60 hrs per month, (3 hours per day in approx 20 working days) thats 60x60x.04=$144 - plus ISP charges etc. And the fax machine was unusable all that time. These economics are not the same at home where you pay flat rate phone (but if you want your family to love you you do need a second line). Then I got jetstream, cheaper, permanent ip, own mail server, own web server, instant recipt of email, etc etc etc. Frankly the speed is not the thing. OK the 128 k at home could do with going up to 256, but at the same time I'd be happy with 256 or 512 at work.
