Well, the alternative is actually Quartz on a Mac OSX.
Plus you can run an X server rootless so only the applications show up
on the normal Mac display.
fink provides Debian packages, very useful. And the rodent has only one
button :-) but you can plug in any multi-button/scroll wheel thing you
like.

I like screen - use it all the time for my main remote machines. Saves
having lots of outgoing ssh connections, although I occasionally miss
having a scroll-back buffer in windows that I'm not watching :-(

I suppose I'm more of a unix-user than a linux-user ... :-)
