I want something thats easy to adapt to having a number of internal

Not quite, I'm afraid (though that's an interesting thought - isn't
there one already?).  I have 
a set of (alpha) iptables modules that allow you to do creative things
with the firewall - but since
I'm only now in the process of getting a modem set up, I haven't really
tested them outside the 
lab.

[Neat things you can do include per-IP or subnet traffic counting,
links to Snort to 
do blacklisting, and (theoretically) load-based rules (i.e. "Gosh, I'm
busy - I'll just stop 
passing these kinds of data").  I'm writing it up at the moment, and
will attempt to push it
out to netfilter main sometime, but I'm interested in anybody that
wants to play with it.]
