This is somewhat off-topic but IMHO you are deluding yourself.
New Zealanders are being taken for a ride at every possible corner,
on basically _all_ stuff. Please don't trust me, go to Yahoo shopping,
or BizRate or Amazon and compare the prices.

Just few examples; I looked at some items of interest:
Digital Cameras: Canon Powershot G3 1900-2200 NZ$, 650-800US$
Keyboards:       Yamaha PSR 550     2000NZ$,       500-570US$

Even food is about 50-100% dearer than e.g. in Dubai (I have a friend
working there)  

Computers are the least inflated, if you go to a no-name shop, that is.

New Zealand must be a rich country if they can afford these prices ;-)
