I see what you mean! I have just been involved with installing an IPCop on a '486 sx-25 and it 'only' takes just under a minute to make the connection to xtra. Which ISP are you using? Some connect quicker than others. During startup the IPCop makes various calls to external resources, in particular to the dns server of your dynamic dns information provider. Are you certain that you have those details recorded correctly, and that the dynamic dns provider is able to service the request. iirc dyndns.org re-builds its database sometime between 10 and 11 pm our time.
