There is a whole lot of stuff, i.e. code and doco, in the mgetty tarball about using modems as answerphones. To find out details about your modem, connect to it using minicom or cu ( part of the uucp package ) Issue the modem command ati and it will tell you a few details about itself. ati<n> ( where n is from 1 to 7 will tell you more ) -- Sincerely etc., Christopher Sawtell
