OK, installed RH 7.1 some while back (it was already old then) on a
little server box, got the free RHN subscription, and ran up2date every
month since. The first one took a looong while, but since then they've
been reasonably quick...

So, do I have an "up-to-date linux system"?

It still reports as 7.1 even tho the kernel and all the apps that rh
knows about have been updated. I'm a little unclear what *other*
difference there are between 7.1 and .2 and .3 (as they're 'dot'
releases it doesn't seem unreasonable to me that the overall version
would increment as I do my up2dates)

Currently a security scan tells me that I need to upgrade from openssh
v3.1 (and suggests that I need at least 3.1p1-6) but a redhat support
page
(http://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2002-127.html#Red%20Hat%20Linux%207.1
) state that 3.1p1-5 (as I have) *is* correct for RH 7.1! My L time is
pretty limited, so I like the ease of up2date. It's already enuff bother
having to pulling down and recompile one or two non-rpm apps every
month, so please don't suggest that I read a half dozen mailing lists
and pull down and compile from pristine sources etc etc...

My goal is a box that's secure, stable and up to date (in that order) -
should I be doing things differently?
