Looking more closely it appears that urpmi can't actually compile src.rpm's (atleast not at the moment) just resolve src.rpm dependences. However it's still possible to produce an optimised Mandrake system using urpmi and rpmbuild though it requires alittle bit more work. Here is a guide to doing it some one's written. http://cybercfo.gkmweb.com/mandrake_a_la_gentoo.pdf Using that with the guides mandrake has produced you 'd actually be able to produce a CD version of Mandrake compiled for k7 etc with out to much difficulty. If you were going to produce and optimised cd set you'd need to download all the SPMS and run rpmbuild --rebuild on them setting the target for your machine. Then using a guide mandrake produced to allow people to make updated cd's or cookers cd's you'd be able to produce a burnable bootable iso that would install Mandrake linux using your recompiled k7 packages. Chad.
