Have alook at the sound section of "A Practical Guide to get started using

and also this "Thac's RPMs for Mandrake9.0"
http://rpm.nyvalls.se/sound9.0.html which seems to have ALOT of linux sound
apps and related programs and a fair number appear to be GUI based ;-).
