First files that urpmi is downloading has downloaded are stored at /var/cache/urpmi/rpm however they're deleted after the installation of if a download fails! If it fails and your using Software installer you can rescue them before they're deleted by copying them before clicking ok on the Area Message! 2nd kde has nothing to do with Mplayer what on earth were you downloading it for? If it told you it was needed then would mind sending me the command your using to download it! Are you using Software installer or Urpmi from the command line! 3rd Have you tried going to the ftp site and downloading the files using your web Browser which as been suggested atleast ONCE before! Once they're downloaded you copy them into a directory and then install them using "urpmi * ". 4th Mplayer is Good but the current Xine version (1.00beta4) is just as good and can play all the same file types. 5th Why don't you just install the thing from Source it's Much easier if you can't susessfull download all the packages. Go to the home page and download the source. Read the README and INSTALL files to find out the dependence's and use urpmi to install each one one at a time. eg "urpmi dep1" "urpmi dep2"........ Then all you have to do is uncompress the file enter the directory and go. "./configure --enable-gui" "make" su "make install"
the dependences you should need are the win32 package and other codecs rp8 qt6 which are avaliable from the homepage they can be installed this way Go Mandrake Menu > Applications > file tools > File Manager - superuser use File Manager to create a new folder called win32 under /usr/lib it may already exist. then copy the files from the win32codecs folder and qt6 folder where you downloaded the files into /usr/lib/win32. you'll also need the default theme file from the webpage. which you should extract into /usr/local/share/mplayer/Skin Other dependencey's you'll need are Xfree86 development packages (CD) and gtk 1.2 development CD. Ask if it won't compile from there and ask specific Q's! Or esle go along to the OSTC or what ever it's called and get them to help intsall it they have fast internet!
