Key bindings is simply a hot key, if you press a certain key thats bound to an
action xine preforms that action. It shouln'd be hanging X though want were
you runing it in? Kde Gnome IceWM or one of the others. I'd suggest trying to
run it in one of the other Gui's. To change the keybinding open your prefered
tect editor or the console and goto.
yourhomedirectory/.xine
eg /home/bob/.xine/
and open the file keymap look for either ToggleTVmode or FileSelector and
change the key to one thats not being used by any thing else then save.
Also what Graphics card do you have? If it's a Nvidia one and your in gnome
try runing xine with this command
xine -V xv -A esd
if not a Nvidia I'd suggest runing it in gnome or IceWM with the command
xine -V xshm -A esd
the -V option tells it what video driver to use. Nvidia and a couple of other
cards support xv which uses the graphics card to help show the movie and is
therefore faster xshm uses straight x and therefore works for any graphics
card supported by XFree86.
The -A option teels it what audio driver to use esd is the gnome and IceWM
sound daemon.
To run most movies you should download the win32 codec pack from Mplayers home
page and the QT6 codec pack and uncompress them to /usr/lib/win32
that should allow you to play most movies and Quicktime files.
By the way if you've installed all the plugins and want to run it from in kde
you'll need to use the "-A arts" option. This command should only need to be
run the first time as after that xine should rember the settings.
Hope that helps!

Q: How many journalists does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
A: Three. One to report it as an inspired government program to bring
light to the people, one to report it as a diabolical government plot
to deprive the poor of darkness, and one to win a Pulitzer prize for
reporting that Electric Company hired a lightbulb-assassin to break
the bulb in the first place.
