It's a space issue as I have a removable hdd and a motherboard that gets in

Do you have any other drives already? If so, reusing them will probably be cheaper. How many spare drive bays/power connecters/IDE ports do you have?
On our last purchase, the two drives were, combined, $5 less than a combo drive. So, unless you have trouble with space to put them, it is better to get separate drives.

I guess due to lack of "don't do it replies" it is looking as the way to go.
