I had a problem like that because a module (bttv) had the wrong options,
and there was a 5 minute timeout on the module loading, ie it would
"hang" for 5 minutes and then timeout. v annoying. I found this by
manually parsing [1]  the logs and finding a big gap of 5 minutes. Now
I've given it different options it only takes a minute (still not quite
got it right I think).

so, take a look at /var/log/messages at the time of the last reboot and
see if you can find anything taking a long time to start.
