RC stands for Release Candidate RC3 simply means Release Candidate 3. A Release Candidate is a beta build of the distro that still has a few bugs In this case Mandrake uploaded the final version 9.1 as RC3 people then think it's still a beta/testing build and don't download it (at least not that many do) this allows it to spread out onto the mirrors. Contribs is a group of Applications mandrake packages for Mandrake linux however they're ones that aren't needed they're extra apps that most people don't need or want and are not dirrectly supported by mandrake. Often packaged by third party groups. powerpack or prosuite are the more expensive versions of Mandrake linux that come with some goodies like the contribs apps on cd, cd's containg the source code, extra tech support (prosuite 5 phone calls etc) a nice manual etc and prosuite comes with mandrake linux on a DVD so you don't have to keep swaping disks when installing. Thats pretty much it the others will probably make a few minor corrections to what i've said. Chad
