Nope. I had to mount: /dev/scsi/host0/bus0/target0/lun0/part1 (or /dev/sda1 which is a symlink to the above) The file didn't appear until I loaded the sd_disk module. I guess the documentation with the drive assumed that I had the SCSI disk module compiled into the kernel. Hmm, perhaps I should give a talk about devfs, /dev and /proc at a meeting sometime --- what does the meeting committie think? In any case, it's all working fine now, and I've put some of my favourite tracks on it, and was listening to it until I realised that it was dumb sitting here listening to music through headphones. So I turned my stereo on. In any case, I think $200 for a 64MB MP3 player that's supported under Linux is pretty good. Cheers for the compliment...and while it might be true about some aspects of Linux, there are other aspects of Linux that other people on this list (you included Nick:) know far more about than me.
