Hi guys,

This is regarding the Mandrake install I had trouble with on Monday. I have
told him that these sort of queries should be directed to the CLUG.

Daniel

Hi Daniel
No problems about last night I appreciate you helping. When I got home last
night and set my box up I decided to try a couple of things myself,
definitely in the dark with this, however I redid the install as a upgrade
and set the monitor settings manually to 800 by 600 by 85hrz. I set the
colour at 16(I think thats right) When I tested it the monitor screen was
stable and aplain gray colour with a timing window in the centre asking if
it was correct. I finished the install and rebooted and the screen was still
stable but the desk top wouldnt or couldnt load. I then decided to reinstall
completely manually doing the screen settings and after rebooting the first
time user window appeared and I finished the setup and closed that window
afterselecting the desktop and rebooted. Screen was stable but still unable
to load the desktop, it changed from the Mandrake wallpaper to a blue screen
every five or so seconds. Thats as far as I got and if you can offer any
advise on where I can go from there it would be appreciated.
Just one thing more , when I did the reinstall it picked hd5 as the
partition to be used, not sure if this was the correct one.
Regards
Ray C
