at the ostc david has some disk mirroring server set up, I cannot
remember the name of it, but it can image a harddrive over a network
and store it on a server. You can then restore the hard drive onto any
number of workstations. he uses it to replicate setups and restore
machines to a known state.

plan:

1. setup knoppix via knx-hdinstall onto the machine with a cdrom.
2. mirror said machine to the server.
3. install on cdrom-less workstations.
4. after the fest david can re-image with the setup of his choice.
5. guest compile boxes are assumed to have a cdrom.
