I've just booted it and it came up ok, giving the warnings you mentioned. I have not got a dhcp server running and it seems that that is essential, because even if I set up the nic and route by hand using the net-setup command neither the sshd nor the distccd will can be started out of the /etc/init.d/ directory. They both emit the message '* Starting eth0' and then hang. On stopping either with a ^C the config for both the nic and the route has disappeared. cheers -- C. S.
