OK silly me I set up a computer for some colleagues. It came with XP home, and they are not into linux so I left it at that.
It came with a blank administrator password so I established a password. Three days later I had a senior moment and had completely forgottten their administrator password. Thanks to a referral from Chris H to Barry W, I was referred to this site: http://home.eunet.no/~pnordahl/ntpasswd/ It has an iso for a boot cd which loads linux with ntfs write support, and a script that can change NT/XP passwords. (actually it recommends making them blank and then resetting them from windows.) So, now we have access, thanks to Linux. Theres two versions - a one floppy (with an optional scsi drivers floppy) or a 2.2MB cdrom iso, with effectively the same stuff as the one floppy plus the scsi drivers. of course you need physical access to the machine, so its no good for carckers looking to break into remote boxes. wooohooo -- Nick Rout <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>
