Good news I think.
Typing "modprobe e100" got the NIC working in the Toshiba laptops. (So that
is 3 x fast machines to put on the farm)

In another machine I could bring (tower PC with 2.4Ghz and 500Mb and a
Broadcom 440x NIC) it looks like we might not be able to use the
live_distcc_cd.
Looking on the Gentoo forums bcm4400 probably needs to be compiled into the
kernel. Any other ideas to get it running?

I can bring three Toshiba laptops (2 x TE2100's, 1 x 6100 all with Intel
Pro/100 VE NIC's) to join the compiling farm. (2GHz, 500Mb Ram)

They should save space if they work. I will bring one along on Monday night
to test as I do not think the NIC is auto detected with Nick's CD.

The readme is there now..

How curious is that though, apache wasn't showing it when it was called
README, but as readme.txt it shows up, same attributes etc.. Very odd.
