This is what is happening at the OSTC. * Compiling your Kernel http://www.ostc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=27
It seems that my strategy of giving people the choice of when they want classes held isn't working. So I will try a different strategy. The Compiling your Kernel class will be held this Saturday afternoon at 1:00pm. Christopher Sawtell will be teaching this class. The purpose of the class is not to compile a kernel for you but for you to learn how to do it for yourself. If you intend to attend this class, please sign up at the above URL. * Debian Package Management http://www.ostc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24 There is still some interest in this class, but we have no instructor. Are there any keen Debian users out there who want to show off their favourite package manager? * Shell Scripting http://www.ostc.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=28 Christopher Sawtell has volunteered to take a course on Shell Scripting. This course will be a series of about 3 classes, each lasting a couple of hours. If we get some more interest in this course, we can schedule a time for it. If there is something else you are interested in learning about, post a message to http://www.ostc.org/forum/ and we will see what we can do. I would also like to know how many people would be interested in a LPI Certification Preparation Course? The course would be divided in to 6 to 8 classes of 2 to 3 hours duration each. The classes could either be held 2 nights a week or on Saturday afternoons. The course is aimed at people who want to do system admin type work rather than home users. Obviously for a course like this, the cost will have to be a lot more than $10 each. There is a lot more preparation involved and we would need to print the courseware for you to take home. I also wouldn't ask any instructor to donate that much time for free, so they will need to be paid. I haven't set a price yet, but I am interested to know if there is a demand for such a course.
