I would say usually but not always, though I am only going from
anecdotal evidence on various lists. As an aside, I just got mine going
under Mandrake. Seems in the upgrade from 9.0 to 9.1, Mandrake did
something to get it going. It now works fine using Kwikdisk to mount it
as a special device. It did say in its manual that it would work with
Linux kernels 2.4x so that's why I was so surprised when it did not work
with Mandrake at first.
