Hi,

My suggestion is two fold.

Part A.

1. - If you are so worried about M$ products then remove the operating system
from your computer. IE will only run on an M$ system - correct me if I am
wrong.

2. If the only M$ system in your house is on her computer don't worry. Either
she cant get info from other parts of the system because their security is
correctly configured or M$ can do it themselves from an external source
because your security is shot.

Part B.
If an M$ O/S is needed look at WinLite. It has the ability to rework an M$
operating system (Win95/98) into a lite version with no IE if you so desire.
That way you get the operating system with no IE. Mind you IE is less of a
worry than Outlook Express. That is the programme you should really watch.

Part C - Which is not a suggestion but more an observation.
To ban the choice of an operating system because you don't like the vendor is
to destroy peoples choice in the very way that many open source proponents
despise about M$. Open Source is about choice, Linux is about choice.
IE delivers a smoother experience than many Open Source Browsers. I use Open
Source Browsers, moastly Mozilla, and even Open Source Sites are not as
optimised for it as they are for IE.
Banning her from running it may turn her off Linux and open Source. Maybe try
explaining your worries and agree to certain safety measures, especially if
she is in her teens. I use IE on one of my systems and properly configured,
firewalled and protected I have no problems. .... Just a thought. AVG anti
virus version 6, Zonelabs zone alarm and Pest patrol ... all free and you
shouldn't have problems.

HTH,

Shane
