on a publicly accessible server the most important thing is to be up
to date so that security fixes are up to date. so go for a distro that
is currently supported, and easy to update when a hole is found in a
package you are running.

basically every distro will have apache (apart from very small embedded
or specialised type distros.)

go to http://www.distrowatch.org which will show you what versions of
various programs like apache are current in various distros.

debian is well known to be stable and have easy updates and reacts well
to security alerts, and is easy to update.
