True. That means they ( Mdk ) really are a bunch of sillies! Big black cloud 
for Mandrake! I'll never go back there now.

Have you got the kernel sources for the kernel version you are using?
It's a ~30Meg d/l for the sources archive file.

A purest would recommend that you upgrade the compiler suite, but I know that 
that can have considerable unpleasant ramifications down the road.
You do not need to hear the problems I had when the tried to do something 
similar at the Mdk-8.x level.

For me anyway it would be easier to re-build a kernel than to d/l and build a 
compiler suite. However you could well have problems compiling the new kernel 
with an old compiler.

The easiest way out would be to get a friend to compile the module for you.
Using a version 3 gcc.( We are friends, arn't we?. What url did you get the 
source from? )

purely fyi, and not wishing to start any kind of rancourous discussion - 
honest - I'd just like to point out that a precompiled version Gentoo is 
coming out later in the week.
