That is bordering on FUD. We were talking about recompiling. Guess
what - the source would be the same *you* are compiling on your gentoo
box. And the difference between compiling the same program on box A and
box B is...?

Last time I looked the SuSE mplayer spec file had hooks for this that
and the other, the idea being to download the source and call rpm to
make the new package. To be clear, this has nothing to do specifically
with SuSE. All it is is a link to the source, which is, damn, the same
as gentoo does. (sarky alert) It's not specific to any distro.
Therefore, the point of your gentoo is...?

As to why commercial companies don't include this software in their
boxes, please do package up your beloved gentoo mplayer/xine/whatever
and sell it in the US of A. Watch your anatomy, you might be hanging by
it soonafter.
