Not true. I've had Mandrake 8.2 lilo booting W2K for over a year, & 
now RedHat 9.0 as well & not finished yet..

As long as you specify hda1 & hda2 for the boot directories on the 
separate hard drives in /etc/lilo.conf, it should be fine.
