Looks like I might have to do this --- both Gimp and ksnapshot are *brainy* enough to hide the cursor when taking the shot.
(I can see it disappear for a bit when using a software cursor)
Clutching at straws, but you might want to try "xwd -id XYZ".
It might *dumb* enough to not disable the cursor.
Who knows.
