Having read up a little on NFS servers and the huge security risk they may present, It'd be good (just for exercise) to set one up locally, to allow for a server install of RH8... however...
RH8 is three CDs, and if I set up an NFS directory, I need to know if I can copy the entire contents of all three CDs into that one directory, or if there's some mincing about with three INDEX files I need to know about first... Does the directory structure need to follow the directory structure on the CDs, or can I simply place all the RPMs in the NFS share, and get away with it... Alternate question : If not NFS can I set up a SAMBA share to do pretty much the same thing...? Obviously kickstart would have to be fooled into happiness, but at the end of the day, could I get away with it...?
