Nick Rout is on permanent record as saying:
:I would like to know more about the practicalities of all this digital
:signing stuff. I understand the basic theory of public/private key pairs,
:but beyond that i'm a bit fuzzy.
:
:eg
:
:can someone using gpg on their linux box interact with someone using pgp?

In general, yes, but there are specific limitations with regards to
patented algorithms. IDEA isn't set to be available to the public for
quite some time, and as such is unavailable in GnuPG. Encrypting a
message to someone will be impossible without the use of a non-standard
plugin. (See http://www.ale.org/archive/ale/ale-2002-06/msg00302.html)

Aside from this I can't say much. I've never had to deal with a PGP 2
or PGP 6 key, and I can't verify personally if it works. If you trust
the reports from google, there have been issues in compatibility, which
have been resolved.
